The BATC was founded in 1949 with the aim then, as now, to encourage and co-ordinate the activities of amateurs involved in all aspects of television as a hobby and this page collects together images and other items to document the club history.

1953 Demonstration in Dublin
In 1953 CQ-TV 18 page 13 mentioned a demonstration in Dublin. Don EI8DJ sent us this audio clip saying “The audio clip features the then President of the BATC a Mr.Shortt ( no first name or callsign given ) and Mr. Bill Stapleton of the Irish Television Society. I was surprised to learn that the BATC were instrumental in demonstrating TV to the public with the assistance of local radio amateurs running exhibitions of live TV setups, which effectively kickstarted our first a national TV channel back in 1961.
